Capitol Report New Mexico began publication in 2007 as a magazine and, after a break, returned in January 2009 as a newspaper. Capitol Report is owned and published by the . While the Rio Grande Foundation is rooted in its belief in free markets and limited government, Capitol Report retains its independence as an objective reporter of all things political and economic facing the citizens of New Mexico — with an emphasis on State House activity.
Capitol Report was founded by Jack Swickard of Roswell and Harold Morgan of Albuquerque. In addition to being editor and publisher of Capitol Report, Morgan is a syndicated newspaper columnist and consults about print communications. He wrote the , which has been transferred to this website. For 16 years, he handled media relations and economic research for the former Sunwest Bank of Albuquerque, now part of Bank of America. He produced the New Mexico Progress business newsletter for 21 years.
Rob Nikolewski
Rob Nikolewski acts as Capitol Reporter and Editor. A three-time Emmy Award winner, Nikolewski has spent more than 20 years in journalism, earning a master’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and a master’s in public administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.
